Boston Youth Club needs help to get Grade II listed Pescod Hall ready for its new use

A new youth club is seeking tradespeople to help prepare its Grade II-listed home for opening.

Boston Youth Club, based at Pescod Hall, issued a 'DIY SOS' on social media last week, seeking volunteers for painting, gardening, and general tidy-ups at the Mitre Lane property in Boston.

Tonic Health, which will run the centre in partnership with Boston Borough Council and the police, has applied for permission to convert the former restaurant into a community and youth hub.

Plans outline café-style areas on both floors, with hours still to be confirmed—likely after 9 am and before 10 pm, potentially seven days a week.

A planning statement explained: “Subject to demand, but likely a maximum of 75 staff and visitors in the building at any one time. Most likely for much of the time up to 20 people in the building at any one time.

“Whilst the building is currently unoccupied, it is in good working order and we believe in a very good state of repair.”

Promoted as a safe space for 12 to 19-year-olds, the hub is now seeking volunteers for its “DIY SOS Week” from Tuesday May 27 to Thursday May 29.
