Unexploded Second World War bomb believed to have been discovered near Boston Police Station
An unexploded Second World War bomb is believed to have been discovered in a town centre earlier today.
Boston Police Station was shut earlier today and nearby residents were evacuated after a suspicious device was found.
The bomb squad has been called and a number of roads after the discovery near the Lincoln Lane police station at 11.30am.
The latest update from Lincolnshire Police states: “We are awaiting further assessment of the device, but we believe it is an unexploded device from World War II.
“Residents will not be able to return to their homes until it is deemed safe to do so, but a rest centre is available and has been identified as the Municipal Building on West Street (PE21 8QR).
“If you have been displaced as a result of the incident, please make your way to the rest centre.
“We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this incident.”
The following roads will likely be closed for some time, and the bus station on Rosegarth Street: Lincoln Lane, Rosegarth Street, Lawrence Lane, Irby Place and St Botolph's Bridge.
