Factory worker tried to lift metal roadside during drunken argument with Boston PCSO
A factory worker drunkenly attempted to lift a metal road sign during an argument with a police community support officer, a court was told.
Orlin Antov pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place through a Bulgarian interpreter when he appeared before Boston magistrates on Wednesday (August 28).
He also accepted he was in breach of a conditional discharge imposed for a similar offence on January 31.
Prosecutor Jade Salter said a PCSO spotted Antov behaving aggressively towards members of the public at the Ingram Memorial in Boston Market Place at 12.15pm on August 10.
“The PCSO told him to leave the area but he refused,” she said.
“The defendant was behaving aggressively towards the PCSO and gesturing as if he wanted to assault him.
“The defendant was waving his arms and fists in the air and then attempted to lift a metal road sign in the air.
“He stuck his middle finger up in the air then attempted to lift a barrier to use against him (the PCSO).”
Ms Salter added that when police arrived on the scene they found Antov ‘arm wrestling with another man’.
“He was unsteady, even when sitting down,” she continued.
“He was arrested for being drunk and disorderly and was still struggling when being placed in handcuffs.”
Defending himself, 35-year-old Antov, who works in a fruit factory, said: “I’m really sorry for what happened again.
“I’ve been here for four years and feel ok. I’m sorry.”
Antov, of Hospital Lane, Boston was fined £233 and ordered to pay a £93 surcharge and £85 costs.
Magistrates agreed to let his conditional discharge continue to act as a deterrent.
“Basically, it means behave yourself,” chairman of the bench Julie Nuttell said.
