Boston Borough Council to have another look at plans for 89 homes in Fishtoft
A planning application for 89 homes in Fishtoft will return to Boston Borough Council for a fresh decision to be made.
Councillors granted Gleeson Regeneration Ltd permission on Tuesday, May 6, to develop land east of Gaysfield Road, but the authority has opted to rehear the scheme after taking further advice. The matter is expected to be discussed at a meeting on Tuesday, June 3.
The proposal proved controversial at the earlier meeting, with Fishtoft Parish Council lodging a formal objection, arguing the village lacks the infrastructure to absorb an additional 89 homes.
Coun James Cantwell (Conservative) argued the “dramatic increase” in properties was unjustified. Planning officers, however, noted two live applications on the same site already total more than 60 homes, calling the uplift minor.
An initial vote to back the scheme fell. However, officers argued there were no defensible planning grounds for refusal likely to hold up at appeal, prompting a second vote—and the application was approved.
A spokesperson for the borough council said: “Following advice, a decision has been taken to return the application to committee to be considered afresh, which will occur in due course.
"These circumstances are specific to this application and, whilst it remains active, we are unable to provide further comment on it at this time.”
At the same meeting, 142 homes off Puritan Way were approved, while a 102-home proposal next to White House Lane, Fishtoft, from Opal Homes was refused over density and design concerns.
