Swineshead residents evacuated from homes after gas leak




Residents were evacuated from their homes after a gas leak.

Emergency services were called to a gas leak in Market Place, Swineshead, at 2.45pm yesterday (Wednesday, July 16).

Three crews of firefighters attended and the police had closed off a number of roads.

A Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Crews worked to evacuate nearby residents and establish a cordon as a precaution, while gas engineers resolved the issue.”

Gas engineers were called out to repair the leak.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “Emergency services attended the area and some road closures were put in place until around 4.30pm, and people were advised to avoid the area while the leak was investigated and repaired.

“Gas engineers attended to make it safe, along with Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue.”
