Boston man Erikas Anzelis, 42, charged after police discover suspected ‘chop shop’ in Norfolk village, Upwell
A man has been charged with a number of offences after police came across a suspected village ‘chop shop’.
Erikas Anzelis, a 42-year-old from Laughton Road in Boston, was arrested alongside Irmantas Spudys, a 44-year-old from Downham Market in Norfolk, after officers found what they believe to be a chop shop - a place where stolen vehicles are dismantled so the parts can be sold separately or used in other vehicles - in Upwell, Norfolk, over the weekend.
Both were arrested at the scene and taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Six stolen vehicles worth more than £200,000 were discovered including two Porches, three BMWs and a Mercedes as well as a signal jammer - a device that allows criminals to disrupt the signals from stolen vehicle tracking systems so they can escape undetected.
Anzelis and Spudys were each charged with six counts of handling stolen goods and one count of using apparatus for the purpose of interfering with wireless telegraphy.
Following their appearance at Norwich Magistrates Court yesterday, the pair were remanded into custody and are due to appear back in court on Monday, December 23.
