Boston motorist who felt ‘unwell’ on night out was over drink-drive limit

A motorist who headed home from a night out after starting to feel unwell was found to be over legal drink-drive limit.

When police answered a report of a vehicle with an ‘intoxicated driver’ on the roads they found 21-year-old Adam Lelek pulling onto the driveway of his former address in Benington.

He gave a reading of 60 micrograms per 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.

“It was October 27 at 1.25am when officers located a Vauxhall Corsa which was reported to have an intoxicated driver,” prosecutor Marie Stace told Boston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (November 20).

“On David’s Lane police spoke to Mr Lelek, who was compliant.”

In defence, Mark Hudson said his client had had a drink with friends.

“He felt unwell and decided to drive home. Police caught up with him as he arrived at his home address,” he said.

“He gave a positive reading and apologises for his actions.”

Lelek, who gave the court a new address of Ingram Road, Boston, pleaded guilty to drink driving.

He was banned from the roads for 17 months, which could be reduced by 17 weeks if he completes a rehabilitation course.

He was also fined £300 and ordered to pay a £120 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
