Police have confirmed they are aware of the social media post, which was uploaded around the time it was announced the youth had been charged

“One of my team spotted him while they were on a street one away from where I was,” he said.

Mr Tice’s social media post finished with the words ‘lawless Britain’. Despite this claim, the MP was quick to praise officers.

“We rang the police who were brilliant and very quick, and because I was there, they took the situation extra seriously.

“It was recommended I stopped campaigning until the situation had been sorted out.”

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place.

He has been bailed and will appear in court at a later date.

Lincolnshire Police issued a statement saying: “A 16-year-old boy has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place.

“He was arrested yesterday (10 April) evening on Argyle Street in Boston.

“The knife was located and seized by Authorised Firearms Officers (AFO) who were deployed to the incident.”
