New Boston and Skegness MP Richard Tice becomes deputy leader of Reform UK

Newly elected MP for Boston and Skegness Richard Tice has reaffirmed his commitment to the constituency after being promoted within Reform UK.

Although once leader of the party, in the run-up to the general election, Mr Tice acted as chairman after Nigel Farage took the helm.

However, recent tensions within Reform UK have led to Mr Farage ousting two of its longstanding deputy leaders, Ben Habib and David Bull, with Mr Tice taking over their positions.

Reform UK emerged as the underdog in the election, claiming five seats, including Clacton, Great Yarmouth, Ashfield, and South Basildon and East Thurrock.

In what proved to be a fairly tight race, Mr Tice was elected as the next MP for Boston and Skegness with 15,520 votes, defeating the Conservative candidate and incumbent MP, Matt Warman, who received 13,510 votes.

When asked if his promotion would mean spending less time in Boston and Skegness, he responded: “What are you talking about?

“It makes no difference at all; my job first and foremost is to do a brilliant job representing all constituents of Boston and Skegness.”

He continued by stating that he was attending meetings in the towns at Arby and Bratoft Village Hall tonight [Friday] and Stickney Car Boot tomorrow, with further meetings planned for Monday and Tuesday.

The MP is also still planning on moving to the constituency and is already engaged in property hunting, with viewings scheduled for next week. “Action at pace,” he said.
