Plans for Energy Storage System on 33-acre site at Bicker Fen
A business is hoping to construct an Energy Storage System on a 33-acre village site.
Tetra Tech have submitted a screening opinion request to build the ESS on land off Vicarage Drove in Bicker Fen.
The application states the ESS would be in situ for up to 40 years.
Energy Storage Systems hold surplus energy during periods of high production or low demand and keep it use during peak demand or low production periods.
The proposed development would also include associated infrastructure, site levelling works, site access, landscaping and ancillary works.
“The proposed development comprises 13.4 ha (33.1 acres) and is located approximately 13 km south west of Boston town,” the screening letter explained.
“The site predominantly consists of three parcels of agricultural fields, divided by drains.”
A screening opinion allows parties to find out if their proposal needs an Environmental Impact Assessment before submitting a planning application.
The application has been made to Boston Borough Council.
