Firefighters called to blaze in Wyberton




Fire crews are still at the scene of a blaze that broke out in the early hours.

A large number of fire appliances were called to Rowdyke Road in Wyberton at about 3.30am this morning (Saturday, June 21).

Residents were advised to keep their doors and windows shut due to smoke.

Crews from Kirton, Boston, Leverton, Donington, Grantham, Lincoln, Spalding, Long Sutton, Gainsborough attended the incident at a commercial premises on Rowdyke Road. This was scaled back to two crews at midday.

Crews used main jets, high volume pumps and an aerial ladder platform as water tower, and thermal imaging cameras.

Significant fire damage was caused to the building and its contents, which included vehicles, pallets and bags of coal. Significant heat damage was also caused to nearby buildings used as a site office and part of a domestic premises.

The cause of the fire is still to be determined.
