Bourne man donates exercise equipment to Lincolnshire’s cardiac rehabilitation team
A patient who suffered with heart problems has funded new equipment to help others with their recovery.
Gary Cooke attended rehabilitation exercise classes in Bourne following a health scare two years ago.
The cardiac sessions were hosted by the Lincolnshire Community Health Services, which also offers advice on treatment, counselling and healthy eating.
Since his recovery Gary has raised money for the Lincolnshire NHS Charity, including £1,000 from a snooker event. It was spent on a rowing machine for cardiac patients in his hometown of Bourne.
The 53-year-old said: “I’m so thankful to the whole team for their support during my recovery and I’m happy that I can give back and help other patients on their journey.”
The event was supported by the Spalding and District Snooker League at Bourne Pyramid Snooker Club.
Paula Groves, assistant practitioner for the cardiac rehabilitation service, said: “It’s fantastic to see that our service had such an impact on Gary that he wanted to support it by providing equipment. This generous donation will benefit future patients attending our services.”
