Bourne Academy proposes new sliding gates ‘to rectify safeguarding issues’
A secondary school wants to enhance its safeguarding measures with new entrance gates.
New sliding gates are being proposed for the frontage to Bourne Academy.
A planning application submitted to South Kesteven District Council says the aim of the project is to “rectify existing safeguarding issues associated with the current vehicular/pedestrian access”.
The gates would be set back about 40 metres along the private access road from Edinburgh Crescent.
The plan states: “The gates will span between the existing hedge/fence line that define the boundary of the school to the residential properties to the north and south and will be a maximum of 2.4m height.
“Further, the proposed will be to replace a set of existing gates and will be of similar scale and material to those currently situated toward the end of the private access driveway.”
A separate pedestrian access gate is planned to maintain pupil and visitor safety.
