Bourne poet Philip Dunkerley donates more than £1,000 from book sales to Holbeach charity Boxes of Hope




A poet has used verse to help troops fighting at the frontline.

Philip Dunkerley, from Bourne, decided to donate the proceeds from his latest two books of published poems to Boxes of Hope.

A hundred copies have been sold of As Red as Rubies and his third book, Schrodinger's Eco-Cat, which was published last November, raising £1,190 for the charity.

They have funded 83 boxes of personal items for Ukrainian troops which were put together by the second poet laureate of Stamford, Theresa McLean, who volunteers for the Holbeach-based group.

"Teresa and I would like to thank everyone in Stamford, Bourne, and other local communities, who have contributed so generously,” said Philip, who runs a U3A poetry group in Bourne.
