Drivers in Bourne and Market Deeping caught speeding, drink-driving and using mobile phones during police crackdown
Drivers were caught speeding, using mobile phones, drink-driving and not wearing seatbelts during a police crackdown on motoring offences.
Police officers carried out checks in Bourne and Market Deeping last week with worrying results.
Thirty-five vehicles were stopped during the operation to check if the drivers were fit to drive.
Nineteen were reported for speeding, one was speeding and driving without insurance, five were not wearing seat belts, four were using a mobile phone, one vehicle had a defective light and one person was arrested for drink-driving and possession of cannabis.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: “Every driver has a responsibility to be sober, drive according to the road and weather conditions, to not exceed the speed limit and to make sure their vehicle is in a good condition, is insured, and taxed with a current MOT.
“We know road safety matters to our communities and educating and enforcing helps to reduce the number of people seriously injured or killed on our roads.”
