Bourne Tractor Run to hold third edition in aid of British Heart Foundation

Organisers of a popular tractor run hope to paint the town red when the wheels turn again on its latest edition.

The Bourne Tractor Run has been a hit since making its debut last summer and organisers believe the third parade, on Sunday, July 6, will be the best yet.

“I'm confident with how may tractors I've already registered it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before,” said Lisa Sleight who organises the event with her dad Tim.

This year’s run is in aid of the British Heart Foundation and the Sleight family are inviting people to wear red in a show of support for the charity.

After developing heart disease at an early age, Tim had triple bypass surgery in his forties and now has a pacemaker.

“Our time left as a complete family is becoming more and more of a precious time,” said Lisa.

“We’re encouraging our supporters to wear something 'red', wave, shout, and cheer as the tractors pass. Our tractor drivers love it.”

The tractors will gather at JJMac’s Spalding Road base ahead of the grand depart at 10am and then follow the same route as last summer’s run.

They will head for Bourne town centre via Abbey Road, and then north along the A15 towards Morton before turning left on to Hanthorpe.

They will then pass through Stainfield before turning left at Kirby Underwood Village Hall and on to Hawthorpe and Irnham, past the Griffin Inn, for Swinstead and Creeton.

The convoy will then visit Little Bytham, Witham on the Hill, Manthorpe and Thurlby before turning left onto the A15, past Northorpe and back into Bourne along Cherry Holt Road, passed George's fish bar, and turning right back to the starting point.

Refreshments will be available at JJ Mac throughout the day, including unlimited tea and coffee, and there will be a tombola with more than 50 prizes.

Guests will include the Mayor of Bourne, Community Response Lincolnshire and a display of collectible models will be available to buy.

“In all my life of growing up and living in Bourne I've never seen so many people all out in support as last year,” Lisa added.

“It was absolutely brilliant. We can't wait to see everyone again.”
