Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust pays tribute to Dr David Sheppard
Tributes have been paid to a leading county wildlife figure, who died recently.
Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust says Dr David Sheppard died at home on Thursday October 16, aged 73. Dr Sheppard was also a previous chairman of the Friends of Bourne Woods.
A wildlife trust spokesman said: “A passionate entomologist, he shared his expertise and enthusiasm with so many - as a wildlife watch leader for nearly 40 years, a trustee of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust for over 30 years, chair of Bourne Area Group, convenor of the Nature Reserve Development Team, species recorder and much more.
“His President’s Award (Silver Lapwing), for outstanding contribution to the trust, was earned several times over.
“We know David will have had an impact on many of you, from all generations.
“He added considerably to the knowledge of many of the trust’s nature reserves with his recording of a wide range of invertebrate groups, while countless young people have been inspired by his love of creepy crawlies.”
