Work to Bourne Leisure Centre means Indoor Farmers’ Market for February is cancelled
The first indoor farmers’ market for 2025 has had to be cancelled.
The organisers of the event, which takes place monthly at Bourne Leisure Centre in Queen’s Road, say the event planned for Sunday, February 16 is unable to go ahead due to work to the floor of the sports hall.
Neil English, who organises the event, said: “The organisers are obviously disappointed that our fantastic customers and stallholders will miss the February Indoor Farmers’ Market, however we also understand the bigger picture that the works have been coincided with the school half term break, and will provide improvements for the future.
“These unforeseen circumstances are beyond our control. Stall fees will be refunded. All stallholders will all be contacted shortly.”
The market will return on Sunday, March 16, from 10am until 2pm, and then on the third Sunday of every month.
A spokesperson for South Kesteven District Council, which owns the leisure centre, said the work can only be done during half-term because the hall is used by pupils at Bourne Academy.
The hall floor is being sanded and sealed and the courts are being remarked.
All the other classes and groups affected by the work have been relocated to studio spaces.
Neil also runs Holbeach Indoor Farmers’ Market and that event is being held on Sunday, February 2, at Holbeach Hub Sports Hall.
