Bourne Town beat Kimberley Miners Welfare in the United Counties League Premier Division North
Bourne battled back after conceding an early goal to stretch their unbeaten run in all competitions to 12 games on Saturday.
The Wakes had found themselves trailing after just six minutes of their United Counties League Premier Division North clash at Kimberley Miners Welfare.
However, second half goals from Zak Munton and Zac Allen secured another away success that kept Bourne in third spot following last season's promotion.
Manager Michael Goode said: "It was one of those mentally challenging games after you concede early on.
"Fair play to Kimberley because they stuck to their task but we showed how much we have learned and grown in how we tightened up and turned it around in the end.
"We're happy with how things are going so far and, if someone had offered us third place at this time at the start of the season, we would have absolutely snapped their hand off."
Bourne had again travelled without the injured quintet of Shaun Archer, Henry Dunn, Robbie Ellis, Tom Siddons and James Hill-Seekings.
They bolstered their bench with Alexandru Pitigoi, Archie Waterland and Saxon Humberstone from the club's Under 18s side.
The trio are also on scholarship programmes with either Peterborough United or Stamford AFC and have been a welcome addition to the ranks.
Goode commented: "They are good lads who are all highly-rated. They have a good physical presence and it's been a real boost to have them around.
"The Under 18s are another feeder for us and we're building a relationship with them."
Buoyed by a 12-3 League Cup win over Dunkirk last Wednesday night, Bourne created the first chance with Aaron Eyett shooting into the side-netting when well placed.
The Wakes then found themselves behind early on when a defensive mistake was capitalised on by Declan Brown who rounded goalkeeper Dan Swan to put Kimberley ahead.
Bourne looked for a response and Brad Marshall, Zac Allen and Will Bird all had chances that were either wide of the mark or saved by the home goalkeeper as the Wakes went into the interval a goal adrift.
However, it took them just five minutes of the second half to equalise as Martin Tudosa's back post cross was headed home from close range by Munton.
The hosts were then reduced to 10 men just past the midway mark in the second half when Oliver Seeby saw red after collecting a second caution.
Bourne then bagged the winning goal with 11 minutes remaining as Tudosa was again the supplier as his centre was bundled home by Allen.
The Wakes had chances to further increase their lead but were unable to add to their tally which left Goode slightly frustrated despite a sixth successive victory in all competitions.
He added: "Although we have been scoring a lot of goals in games, we have still been missing a lot of decent chances.
"It is one thing that we have to do better on because we're not going to get five or six chances every game.
"It made things a little bit twitchy on Saturday and we have to kill games off.
"It might sound a little bit ridiculous after scoring 16 goals in the previous two goals but there have been other matches outside of this run against Newark Town and Skegness where we didn't take our chances to put the game to bed."
Bourne's next match is on Saturday when they travel to Northern Counties East League Division One side Appleby Frodingham in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy.
