Success for Lawson Capes at the Lincolnshire County Championships

Lawson Capes was in record-breaking form as he won two Lincolnshire titles at the county championships over the weekend.

The Bourne Grammar School pupil took top spot in both the discus and shot put and set two new championship records in the under 17 events in his first year at the age group.

He managed 16.32m in the shot which was slightly down on his best but opened his season with the discus for the first time with 44.31m which was an impressive start to the campaign for this event.

Capes now prepares for the Loughborough International this week and then a further England international the week after against a number of European countries to try and qualify for the Under 18 European Championships in Slovakia this summer.
