Market Deeping man jailed for 7 years for raping woman

A man who was found guilty of raping a woman was today jailed for seven years.

Jack Walker, 29, must also serve an extended licence period of four years on his release from custody after a judge decided he was a dangerous offender.

Walker, who was living in the Market Deeping area at the time of the offences, was convicted of one rape charge, assault causing actual bodily harm and battery after two separate trials at Lincoln Crown Court.

He was also cleared of a second rape offence and admitted a further charge of criminal damage to a fence post.

All the offences occurred in July last year.

In an impact statement which was read out in court the victim described Walker as a "monster".

The woman, who attended the hearing and cannot be named to protect her anonymity, said she now keeps her doors locked at all times and feels like a prisoner.

She also described being scared all the time and said she felt it hard to trust anyone.

"Hopefully after getting justice I will get my life back," she added.

The court heard Walker was remanded into custody following his convictions and had previously been jailed for 18 months in August 2022 for offences of stalking and malicious communications.

Stuart Lody, mitigating, said Walker still denied all the allegations accept for the criminal damage.

"He does no accept the convictions," Mr Lody told the court.

Passing sentence Judge James House KC said it was clear the victim had been significantly impacted.

"She described herself as feeling broken," Judge House said.

"Her life has been dramatically affected by his actions."

Judge House added: "I am sure an extended sentence is appropriate in his case."

A restraining order was also made which prevents Walker having any contact with the victim and he must also register as a sex offender for life.
