A17 closed for weekend between Leadenham and Beckingham as major road improvements continue

The A17 will be closed this weekend as works to reconstruct a section of the road between Beckingham and Leadenham continue.

The road will close from 7pm tonight until 6am on Monday morning as one of three pre-scheduled weekend road closures throughout October.

This same stretch of road will next be closed from October 14 to 17.

Lincolnshire County Council representatives say that the works to completely resurface this stretch of road are necessary as the surface was beginning to fail, posing a risk to drivers.

This process will involve excavating the current carriageway and replacing it with over 24,000 tonnes of tarmac and stone.

Kerbs and foot ways will also be replaced, as well as works to water-proof Brant Broughton Bridge which will be undertaken during the full weekend closures.
