Author will launch her self-help book ‘A Rough Guide to a Smooth Life’ in Grantham and Bottesford
A former student of Belvoir High School in Bottesford is launching her first book, after travelling the world on a journey of self-discovery.
After turning 30 and finding herself feeling unfulfilled, Jess Stuart decided to completely change her life.
This book is a practical guide for surviving modern life
She explains: “Over the last 12 months I quit the corporate world, left my home, gave away my possessions and became single for the first time in years.
“I spent time living in Ashrams and retreats, volunteered teaching English overseas in Buddhist temples, took part in meditation retreats and studied mindfulness.
“I have visited those I admired and those I loved, qualified as a yoga instructor, spent quality time with my family, spent time in Thailand, the land of smiles and a place close to my heart, visited Bhutan, the country dedicated to happiness, and lived as a nomad.
“I set out on a journey to spend time doing the things I loved and what it taught me in the process was a whole host of lessons about myself, my values, how to find happiness and live life to the fullest.”
Jess, who is also a certified life coach, has drawn on her experiences to write her debut book ‘A Rough Guide to a Smooth Life’.
Born in Nether Broughton and brought up in Waltham on the Wolds, she now spends her time between her parents’ home in Sedgebrook and New Zealand.
She decided to launch her book close to home, and will hold a launch event at Bottesford Community Library next week.
The book contains advice on health and wellbeing, achieving your potential, being resilient in the face of setbacks, and how to create happiness.
Jess said: “At a time when we are becoming increasingly unfulfilled and everyone is busy setting their New Year intentions, this book is a practical guide for surviving modern life.”
The Bottesford launch, taking place at 7.30pm on Tuesday, is free to attend.
It will be followed on Thursday by a second launch event, this time in Grantham, at the Guildhall Arts Centre. It will be held in the Newton Room, at 7.30pm.
