College students help to spread Grantham Foodbank’s message

Grantham College students have been inspired by the vital work of Grantham Foodbank, and created posters to spread the charity’s community goals.

Digital design and graphics students at the college have created posters around Grantham Foodbank’s straplines of ‘Local people supporting local people, restoring dignity, reviving hope, and building community’.

Delighted with the initiative and the quality of the work produced by the teenagers, Grantham Foodbank co-ordinator Brian Hanbury said: “They have done this with insight and gentle critique from myself over the last six weeks.

“It will be part of their accreditation, and all l can say is that they are brilliant. It will help encourage thousands of meals to be donated over the next few years.”

The posters will be in a pop-up display at The George Centre from this weekend up until Christmas. Brian is also looking into whether the posters could be used nationally to promote all 420 Trussell Trust foodbanks. Any sponsors who could help get the posters professionally printed around town would also be appreciated, and are asked to contact the Foodbank.

College course leader David Thomas came up with the poster idea as a friend is a foodbank volunteer. “My students were also just about to start an advertising module, so the two things coincided beautifully,” he said.

Brian added: “We would like to say a massive thank you to all the students involved, and to David.”
