Grantham '1950s' couple to host open day at vintage shop




A couple who have adopted a 1950s lifestyle are hosting an open day at their shop on Sunday.

Jill Adams, opened Rockin- Jillys in Retro House, Swingbridge Road, last year, selling vintage and retro memorabilia.

Customers are able to browse through racks of vintage clothing including circle skirts, prom dresses and lined suits as well as purchase children's toys, décor and furniture.

After meeting partner Roger Squires at a rock 'n' roll concert in Lincoln, the couple have embraced the 1950s lifestyle together. Jill dresses in vintage frocks, drives a 1960 Ford Zephyr and listens to rockabilly records on her jukebox.

Jill said: "I have always had a passion for this particular era. Women always looked so elegant.

" I used to listen to my uncles huge collection of records as a child. My favourite song was called Kaw-Liga."

The couple also manage a hire service for photo shoots , theatres and movie props.

Jill's family have followed in her footsteps.

Jill added: "My granddaughter Paige dresses in vintage dresses and styles her hair and make-up to match."

Rockin-Jillys is open on Thursdays and Fridays between 9am and 3pm and Saturdays 9am-4pm.

Their open day is between 10am and 4pm on Sunday
