Grantham is happiest place in Lincolnshire according to survey by online retailer Furniturebox which put Norwich in top spot nationally
The happiest place to live in Lincolnshire has been revealed, according to a new survey.
The historic town of Grantham has topped the county in online furniture retailer Furniturebox’s list of the UK’s 75 happiest locations.
Horncastle, Uffington, Tealby and Lincoln followed Grantham, while Norwich was top nationally.
The survey polled 5,000 people across the UK to assess what makes a place happy to live in.
Locations were ranked on surroundings, green spaces, schools, affordable housing and local amenities.
Grantham, which came 27th nationally, offers a blend of historic charm and modern amenities, appealing to families and commuters alike.
None of the other Lincolnshire towns made the top 75, which nationally was topped by Norwich, followed by Skipton in North Yorkshire in second and Malvern in Worcestershire in third.
Strong transport links to London and other major cities, excellent schools such as Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School and The King’s School, and access to green spaces contribute to the town’s high ranking.
Respondents highlighted pubs such as the Black Dog and the Blue Pig, and nearby filming locations including Victoria and The Secret Garden.”
A Furniturebox spokesperson said: “All 75 places on the list would have been worthy winners and show why the UK is such a wonderful place to live, loved by visitors from all over the world.
“Most of the locations in the top 75 are not the most affluent in their localities and have access to some affordable housing, including Grantham, which is very popular with families.
“The survey shows that the happiest places are not defined by wealth but by the quality of life within them.”
