Iliffe Media becomes new holder of Local Democracy Reporter contract in Lincolnshire in partnership with Reach
Iliffe Media has become the new holder of the Local Democracy Reporter contract in the county in partnership with Lincolnshire Live.
The news comes after previous contract holders The Lincolnite ceased trading in August.
Local Democracy Reporters cover top-tier local authorities, second-tier local authorities and other public service organisations under a BBC-funded scheme.
James Turner will continue in his role and is joining Iliffe Media today which publishes LincsOnline and is powered by the Grantham Journal, Spalding Guardian and Stamford Mercury. He can be contacted on his new email address: james.turner@iliffemedia.co.uk
One reporter will also be joining Lincolnshire Live and the vacancy will be advertised soon.
Ian Carter, chief operating officer at Iliffe Media, said: "I am glad we have acted quickly to get the service up and running again. The local democracy scheme is hugely valuable and we were keen to avoid a lengthy hiatus. We are also pleased to be working with Reach on another shared contract and this is a good example of how the industry can work together for the benefit of our audiences."
Editor of Lincolnshire Live, Natalie Fahy, said: "We are excited to get the Local Democracy Reporting Service back up and running again and to provide news on issues that really matter to people the length and breadth of Lincolnshire.
"It's great to work in partnership with Iliffe Media. Our shared priority is to make sure local authorities are held to account at all times.
"Additionally, I am keen to hear from reporters of all levels that might be interested in the vacancy and happy to discuss what being part of the LDRS at Reach would look like."
Helen Dalby, audience and content director at Reach PLC overseeing the LDRS, said: "We believe firmly in the long-term importance of the Local Democracy Reporting Service, and we're delighted to be working with Iliffe to get the service back up and running in Lincolnshire as swiftly as possible for local audiences and partners."
