New starter homes in Ancaster due to be completed in July

Fourteen starter homes are well underway in Ancaster with a number already reserved ahead of completion in July.

The new residential scheme, developed by Midlands-based developer Wheatcroft Land under its new residential brand Wheatcroft Homes, is proving to be successful due to its supportive approach to first-time buyers with the availability of Help to Buy, the inclusion of kitchen appliances and a renewable energy source to keep fuel bills low.

The mixture of two and three bedroom terrace and semi-detached properties include fitted kitchens with appliances such as a washer/dryer, ceramic hob, oven, fridge freezer and a dishwasher plus as much storage space has been created as possible.

The 1.1 acre plot – which formerly housed a repair garage – is being built by award-winning construction company Gelder Group and marketed by local property agent Pygott & Crone.

Prices start at £150,000 for a two bedroom property and £175,000 for a three bedroom property.

Catherine Haward, director of Wheatcroft Land, said: “Ahead of purchasing the site, we carried out extensive research and spoke to the local community to find out what type of homes they would like to see in Ancaster. Affordable starter-homes for young families and first-time buyers was a popular topic, so it was important that we listened and met the very clear demand.

“The new homes are perfectly suited for first-time buyers who might not have the funds available to buy everyday goods such as a washer/dryer or dishwasher.

“Purchasers who make early reservations have the option to design aspects of their property with a choice of floor coverings and interior finishes. Each home also includes underfloor heating on the ground floor with all heating and hot water being provided via a Mitsubishi Electric air source heat pump - one of the most advanced, efficient renewable heating systems available, giving residents the added bonus of lower fuel bills and reduced carbon emissions.”

Wheatcroft Land gained planning permission for the housing development in December 2016, following purchase of the site in 2015, which had previously remained unused for several years.
