Train services disrupted after person hit by train in Grantham




A person has been hit by a train reportedly in Grantham today (Wednesday).

London North Eastern Railway and East Midlands Railway have both reported routes being affected or closed following the incident.

EMR said on X.com: “We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train.”

They said services between Nottingham and Skegness and Nottingham and Norwich had been impacted.

LNER Grantham to Peterborough lines were initially closed following the incident but have now reopened.

Nationally, services between Inverness and London Kings Cross and LUMO trains between Edinburgh and Kings Cross were unable to run until further notice.

Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

LNER said disruption was expected until 3.30pm.

Eye witnesses have reported on social media that air ambulances and other emergency services attended Grantham Railway Station in response to the sad incident.

The British Transport Police confirmed the person had been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. They said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
