Police investigate string of car thefts after Hanoi burglaries in Lincolnshire

Police officers have issued a warning following a series of burglaries where criminals break into homes to steal car keys before driving off with the vehicle.

In the last two months, Lincolnshire Police officers have investigated eight such incidents, known as Hanoi burglaries, across Lincolnshire, with the most recent taking place on Hillview Road, South Witham, near Grantham, on March 10.

The thieves reportedly snapped a lock on a conservatory, accessed the house, and took the keys to a VW Golf.

This marks the latest in a string of similar crimes, with four incidents reported in Grantham and one each in Stamford, Boston, and Gainsborough.

Police officers are actively investigating these offences and ask anyone with information to contact them by emailing NSKCID@lincs.police.uk, quoting the incident number 22 of Monday, March 10.

To help residents protect their property, officers have provided safety advice, including ensuring doors and windows are locked, setting alarms, and using CCTV to monitor movement near vehicles.

Experts also recommend fitting anti-lock snap lock cylinders and parking cars in secure locations.

Lincolnshire Police encourage the public to report any suspicious activity on 999 in an emergency and 101 in a non-emergency situation.
