Grantham woman dresses up every week for NHS and key workers clap
A Grantham woman dressed up every week to ‘Clap for Carers’.
Rachel Sheppard donned a different costume each week for the Thursday clap for key workers.
The 37-year-old has taken this creative approach not only to thank the NHS and other key workers but to cheer her Pretoria Road neighbours up in what has been a difficult time for so many people.
Rachel, who works for Royal Mail, has collected plenty of costumes over the years, taking this chance to show off her colourful collection of fun outfits.
She took to walking up and down the street during the 8pm minute of applause so that those too vulnerable to come out and clap could still get a look at her costume through their front windows.
Rachel said: “The neighbours laughed the first week as it was the postbox, then asked what I was going to be in next week, so the pressure was on to get my dressing up outfits I’ve collected over the years. And, hey presto, more and more neighbours were waiting to see what I wore.
“I had to walk up and down the street so those that couldn’t come out and clap could see me from their window.”
