Grantham Cricket Club round-up




A century from Aqib Afzaal helped Grantham maintain their unbeaten start to the Lincolnshire Premier League campaign on Saturday.

Opener Afzaal top-scored with 105 as Grantham beat Nettleham by 145 runs at Gorse Lane to record their third successive league win.

He also shared in a 170-run stand for the second wicket with Qundeel Haider who hit 70 as Grantham posted 293-5 from their 50 overs.

Nettleham were then bowled out for 148 in reply as Azimullah Ahmadzai led the home attack with 3-21.

The second team returned from their trip to Skegness with a six-wicket win in the South Lincs and Border League Championship.

The hosts had made 172-6 after batting first with Affan Mustafa taking 3-39 for Grantham who passed their target with eight balls to spare.

Danny Ashley was unbeaten on 51 at the close after Mustafa made 35 while Sam Lythgoe finished on 22 not out.

The third team completed a victory treble for the club with a 13-run success against Skegness 2nds in Division Two.

An unbeaten 64 from Oliver Parr and Olly Rose's 31 not out helped Grantham finish on 196-6 at the end of their 45 overs.

They then bowled Skegness out for 183 as Ram Mangineni and Emaad Ali took a brace of wickets each while Toby Cullen claimed two of the four run outs.

Belton Park lost by six wickets against Baston in the same division after being bowled out for 91.

Ancaster were 29-run winners in their Division One match at Long Sutton 2nds.

Liam Probert top-scored with 62 while Luke Bristow was unbeaten on 30 as Ancaster were dismissed for 157.

Probert, Bristow, Jake Ellis and Warren Selby all struck twice in the Sutton reply as the hosts were dismissed for 128.
