Kesteven Rugby Club’s ladies team scores 84 points in their victory over Amber Valley

Kesteven ladies recorded their biggest ever winning margin in their second league game against Amber Valley on Sunday.

They secured an 84-3 win to top off a victorious weekend for both senior teams.

Scrum half Megan Jones opened up the scoresheet with a pick and go from 40 metres out which was met by cheers from the home crowd.

After a series of strong scrums from the opposition, Kerri Arlando gathered a loose ball and charged from within the Kesteven half to score her first try of the season.

Hermione Farmer crossed the line again to secure her hat-trick before the break.

After a pressing start to the second half, Kesteven were forced to defend but, when a clearance kick was gathered by Aimee Goument, she went on her second run of the game and crossed the line in her first outing back after returning from injury and the second half try count was underway.

Amber Valley capitalised on a penalty given within Kesteven's own 22 and kicked through the posts to get themselves on the scoreboard.

With no let off in the second half, Kesteven continued their strong runs and were playing with a lot more go forward than their previous outing.

A show of great hands and support play meant they were able to cross the line a further six times during the second half.

Tries during the game came from Megan Jones (two), Nikita Moore, Amy Brumhead, Kerri Arlando, Megan Alderton, Lilliemae Reid, Beth Harland, Hermione Farmer (five) and Aimee Goument with seven conversions by Zoe Osborn.

The ladies' next home game is Sunday, November 3, against Mellish. Training is held every Wednesday night from 7pm at Woodnook.
