Two members of Belvoir Tri Club have taken on the European Championship Middle Distance Triathlon in Pamplona

Two members of Belvoir Tri Club have taken on the European Championship Middle Distance Triathlon in Pamplona.

Marjike De Groot and Anne Greenwood showcased grit and determination throughout a challenging course in Spain.

The race began with a swim in a scenic reservoir, followed by a hilly and demanding bike leg, and concluded with a tough run weaving through the town.

The spirited support from locals helped ease the pain of the cobbled inclines during the run.

Marjike reflected on her performance by saying: "I would have liked to run faster but it didn't happen.

"I was very happy with my swim and cycle times though."

She finished eighth in her age group out of 15 others and was the fifth British competitor home, crossing the line in five hours 57 minutes.

Anne also battled through a challenging race, finishing seventh overall in her age group and fourth British woman, with a final time of six hours 25 minutes.
