Belvoir Triathlon Club are offering a Zero 2 Hero programme

Belvoir Triathlon Club are offering an exciting Zero 2 Hero programme to kick start the new year.

The 13-week schedule aims to encourage those who want to dip their toe into the world of multi-sport to increase their fitness with the target of a sprint triathlon in the spring.

Head coach Claudette Joint explained: "The aim of the programme is not for us to turn people into elite sprint triathletes, but rather to give you a taste of what triathlon is all about and to help you to challenge yourself and meet your own fitness goals whatever they might be.

"The Zero 2 Hero programme is not about meeting specific times or speeds – it is about finding out what you can do and working with a team to make you the best that you can be."

The programme offers a group of like-minded people with similar aspirations, support and encouragement.

Swimming, cycling and running coaching is offered by British Triathlon Federation qualified coaches.

There will be detailed weekly training schedules, specialist team sessions to cover aspects of triathlon such as strength and conditioning, transition, bike maintenance and one-to-one coaching support throughout the programme.

The programme specifically uses the existing club sessions but allows flexibility and a detailed plan for athletes to follow on their own.

The usual club sessions are Mondays (swimming 6-7am); Wednesdays (running 6:30pm); Thursdays (cycling/turbo 6:30pm); Saturdays (swimming, 7-8am) and Sundays (outdoor cycling - around two hours).
