Grantham Tennis Club defeat Caunton in the Nottinghamshire Winter League

Grantham Tennis Club's men's first team have made a flying start to their Nottinghamshire Winter League campaign with an opening victory over Caunton.

Darren Taxis and Andy Isaac got Grantham off to a strong start with an 8-4 success in their match.

That was followed by a 10-2 triumph for Elijah and Lewis while Dom and Ben put up a strong fight but were eventually beaten 7-5 by Caunton's first pair.

The second round began in high spirits for Grantham as all three pairs won their matches.

Darren and Andy won 8-4, Elijah and Lewis triumphed 9-3 while Dom and Ben had an 8-4 success.

Even with Grantham's successes so far, it was still all to play for in the third and final round where there was great tennis from all players.

Grantham proved to be too strong for Caunton with Andy and Darren and Lewis and Elijah winning their respective matches 7-5 while, after a hard-fought contest, Dom and Ben lost 8-4.
