Grantham Town face Wellingborough Town in the Northern Premier League
Paul Rawden is looking for his Grantham Town side to show more desire and bravery as they attempt to move away from the foot of the league table.
The Gingerbreads travel to Wellingborough Town in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division on Saturday looking to bounce back from their home weekend defeat to Sutton Coldfield.
Rawden is still searching for his first win as interim manager following the departure of head coach Louis Bland last month.
The chairman has picked up two points from his five-game tenure and wants to see more from his players in Saturday's match at the 10th-placed Doughboys.
Rawden said: "We have to challenge the players to be braver. We cannot give an individual that desire because it comes from within.
"If you haven't got desire then you're not going to survive in football.
"We need to remove the doom, gloom and pressure because football is very simple in that if you win a game then everyone forgets everything that has gone before it."
Grantham are currently four points adrift of safety having played 18 matches of their 40-game league campaign.
Rawden added: "You don't get relegated in November and too many people look at league tables now.
"There are some good players at the club, although I felt they really let themselves down last Saturday.
"They can all play football. We have seen that but they decided on Saturday that they didn't want to do that.
"We had to question their bravery to demand the football when things are going against you.
"It was the biggest single disappointing thing from last Saturday because they have shown that good character in the previous three or four games.
"I think there was a willingness to accept defeat last Saturday which isn't good enough for the club."
Rawden will continue to look to strengthen his squad after bringing in several new additions during his time at the helm.
He commented: "We're still lacking one or two players in key areas where we need that physical presence.
"The players that we have brought in have all done very well for us but it is evident that we don't win enough second balls or headers in certain areas.
"We don't have people that can put a foot on it at times to calm situations down and it is something that we need to find quickly.
"We do need to find one or two players but it's not easy to attract those players to a football club which is at the bottom of the league.
"They are out there but you have to convince them to come and they've got to be the right characters as well."
