Grantham Tennis Club round-up
Grantham Tennis Club's men's first team started the new Nottinghamshire Summer League season as they meant to go on with a victory.
They persevered in challenging weather conditions to run out 6-3 winners against Mansfield.
The team consisted of Andy Isaac, Josh Harris, Ben Cullen, Elijah Killen Smith, Darren Taxis and Steve Johnson.
The men's second team found the shining sun a good omen as they ran out 8-1 winners against Mapperley.
Their team featured Nick Cook, Ben Selby, Grant Edwards, Alex Smith, Lincoln Fleckney and Tom Concarr.
The ladies first team were handed two away trips to start their Division Three campaign.
They recorded a narrow 5-4 win at Attenborough with Veronica Stephens and Hellen Culleton setting the side on their way with a resounding victory.
Holly Richardson and Sarah Shephard-Smith plus Ros Elphick and Rachel Gilham made up the rest of the Grantham team.
New pairings then featured as they travelled to Retford where they recorded a 7-2 success.
Rachel Brook joined forces with Em Atkins along with Jessica and Immie Greenwood as well as Sarah Shephard-Smith and Nikki Applewhite.
Ironically the next match to be played will be the final match of the winter season which will be crucial in deciding second position in Division Three.
The ladies second team played their first match of the season against their Sleaford counterparts.
Despite being a newly-formed team, they played fantastically well and only conceded one game in the entire afternoon.
The team was captain Rachel, Kirsty, Jo and Madison.
