Harrowby United beat Eastwood CFC in the United Counties League

Hard work paid off for Harrowby United as they overcame a challenging period for the club with a super home success on Tuesday night.

The Arrows defeated Eastwood CFC in the United Counties League Premier Division North match at the Fruehauf Stadium.

Kane Hutchinson-Wilkes struck both goals in the first half to end a run of four league games without a victory.

The Arrows went into a tough looking fixture without departing skipper Kemal Yeniberitz who has joined league rivals Newark Town.

Manager Jamie McGhee has also taken a step back from first team duties after receiving a suspension until February following an incident in pre-season.

They were also without eight first team players for the midweek match and set up to try and hit Eastwood on the counter attack.

It worked to a tee with on-loan goalkeeper Nykah Liburd-Hines - who is dual registered with Stamford - produced two great saves in an inspired performance.

Harrowby then took the lead with a passing move down the left involving Jordan Haywood and Kareem Abouraia ending with Hutchinson-Wilkes slotting home.

Eastwood again went on the attack but skipper for the night Kegan Everington and Richard Kankam were superb in the back line.

Harrowby always looked dangerous on the counter attack with Calum Law and new signing Rueben Fogg working really hard.

The Arrows' second goal was a superb effort as Law put over a majestic cross from the right for Hutchinson-Wilkes to convert with a fantastic header.

They then saw out the rest of the half for a two-goal interval lead.

A reaction was expected from Eastwood and they hit the bar early in the second half.

Harrowby knew they would have to defend for long periods with Eastwood looking for a way back into the game .

They did ride their luck with Eastwood hitting the post on two more occasions and Liburd-Hines making three or four great saves.

But Harrowby stuck at it and got their rewards with a great win and an important three points as they were rightly clapped off at the end by the amazing home support.

They have another home match on Saturday against Hucknall Town before taking on tenants Newark & Sherwood at the Fruehauf Stadium on Tuesday night.
