Harrowby United beat AFC Mansfield in the United Counties League

Harrowby head into a second successive home game on Saturday on the back of their biggest win since gaining promotion to the United Counties League Premier Division North.

They host Gresley Rovers this weekend after a 5-0 success over fifth-placed AFC Mansfield at the JRL Brickwork Stadium last weekend.

Taylor Gray and Tom Harris both scored twice for the Arrows with skipper Kemal Yeniberitz also on target.

This was by far Harrowby's best performance of the season and one that has been on the cards for a few weeks as they sent the home crowd away happy.

Player manager Jamie McGhee once again named himself in the line-up and did not disappoint by marshalling the midfield.

Harrowby started on the front foot from the off and were unlucky early on when Jack Gurney fired narrowly wide from range with the keeper well beaten.

It was not long before the pressure paid off when the keeper could only parry Elliot King's header and Gray was on hand at the back post to fire home from close range.

Harrowby's joy was soon dampened when the visitors were awarded a penalty four minutes later as Lewis Marsh was penalised for a tackle that clearly looked outside the area but the referee instantly pointed to the spot.

New goalkeeper Alex Smith, on his debut, was up to the task though by saving the spot kick low to his left and maintaining Harrowby's advantage.

The game for the next 15 minutes was pretty even with neither side really taking a hold of the contest.

The Arrows doubled their lead on 38 minutes as a fine team build up found Harris free and he made no mistake by firing low into the corner of the goal.

With the half coming to its conclusion, Harris was again on hand to make it three without reply.

As expected Mansfield came out strong after the break and forced Harrowby back but the defence marshalled by Marsh and Yeniberitz held strong and restricted the visitor to limited chances.

Harrowby always looked dangerous on the break and Gray grabbed his second on 56 minutes after again firing home from close range following some good work down the left by Issa Gaye.

The Arrows were now in full control with manager McGhee trying his luck and firing a shot from 30 yards that forced a good save from the visiting keeper.

Harrowby rounded off an excellent performance when a corner from Harris was headed home at the back post by captain Yeniberitz.
