Harrowby United beat Sleaford Town in the United Counties League
Harrowby chalked up a third successive United Counties League Premier Division North victory after beating Sleaford Town on Tuesday night.
Second half goals from Lewis Marsh and Jack Gurney ensured the Arrows followed up league wins over AFC Mansfield and Gresley Rovers.
It also saw Jamie McGhee's side bounce back from two consecutive penalty shoot-out defeats in the county and league cup competitions.
The Arrows boss had to shuffle his pack with Scott Floyd, Harrison Dee, Issa Gaye, Kyle Watkins and Harry Allcock all absent.
Richard Kankam made his first start for eight weeks while Jonny Gilbert and Kyle Reek came into the middle with Jon Smith on the right.
A crowd of nearly 200 turned out for the midweek match against a Sleaford side who arrived on the back of some narrow defeats against the league's big hitters and a fine away win at Belper United.
Sleaford started the better of the two teams and for the first 15 minutes looked the more likely to open the scoring despite rarely troubling Alex Smith in the home goal.
The Arrows then started to gain some dominance, in particular through Jack Gurney, Gilbert and Reek in midfield.
Gurney's deliveries all night were a constant thorn in Sleaford's side and Elliot King should have done better with two headers that were put wide.
Liam Flitton in the Sleaford goal then made a couple of great saves from a Gurney cross and when Gilbert was clean through as half-time arrived with Harrowby on top despite the game being goalless.
Sleaford again began well in the second period and Fin Armond put a shot just wide but, after that, the home defence of Kemal Yeniberitz, Marsh and Kamkan were solid and restricted the Greens to half chances.
Harrowby again regained the ascendency with Tom Harris finding a lot of space down the left-hand side.
After he was fouled by Ben Robson, Gurney sent in another pinpoint delivery to the back post where Marsh slid in to score the opening goal for a deserved Harrowby lead.
Harrowby then got control of the game and went looking for a second goal which arrived in some style.
Gilbert intercepted a clearance from goalkeeper Flitton and the ball fell to Gurney who struck a sublime shot from just inside the Sleaford half that floated over the custodian and into the net for a match-clinching second goal.
Harrowby saw out the rest of the game well with Smith rarely troubled to secure a great three points against a young and dangerous Sleaford side who will no doubt cause teams a lot of trouble with their new-look line-up.
The Arrows now have a tough away fixture on Saturday when they visit Kimberley Miners Welfare.
Harrowby's match at Shirebrook Town last Saturday was postponed due to an electrical fault at the Derbyshire club's ground.
