Fighters from the Touch Gloves Boxing Gym in action at the Meres Leisure Centre in Grantham
Fighters from the Touch Gloves Boxing Gym in Grantham received fantastic preparation for their forthcoming competition bouts at a show held in the town.
They joined forces with Grantham Amateur Boxing Club to put on the event at the Meres Leisure Centre.
Warrick Brewin stepped into the ring for his second full contest after an impressive third round stoppage four weeks before.
He took control of his bout with Bracebridge's Liam Thorpe from the first bell with some lovely foot defences and eye-catching counters.
With 30 seconds remaining of the first round, Thorpe applied the pressure from his southpaw stance with some lovely eye-catching shots himself.
This was to be the same pattern in the next two rounds with Brewin switching off towards the end of the rounds and Thorpe finishing the stronger of the pair to claim the victory.
Lexi Miller relished her daunting challenge against Megan Wood who is a two-times national champion and last year's European bronze medallist.
As the first bell went, you wouldn't have thought their records were complete opposites as Miller took full advantage of her long arms and fantastic footwork and boxing intelligence to keep Wood away with some lovely check hooks.
As the first round was coming towards the end, Wood began to close the gap on Miller and caught her with some flurries of her own, causing a trickle of blood from her nose.
As the second round began, the flow of blood got faster and began to affect Miller's breathing as it was going down the back of her throat.
This forced a change of tactics in how Miller boxed as she had to stand there and trade for the next two rounds.
Wood was deemed by the judges to finish stronger in the trades and claimed victory.
However, Miller showed everybody that she has what it takes to mix it at the top level with these boxers and earned herself a rematch in May in North Devon.
Tommy Newcombe stepped into the ring for the third time in four weeks after a win and a dubious stoppage the week before.
Across the ring stood his opponent Jeffrey Simmons who was four inches taller and on a six-win running streak in the last four months.
It was going to be a tough night for Newcombe as Simmons used his height to full advantage by controlling the distance very well.
But, in true Newcombe style, he bit down on his gum shield and got himself inside and worked the body shots as much as he could but the eye-catching blows came from Simmons which won him the bout.
Logan Miller returned to action after 14 months out and he showed a little ring rust in his first round.
Despite slowly finding his feet towards the end of the round, his opponent, Riley McAllister, took it.
Miller came out a bit more determined in the second round, moving and slipping and returning punches, both boxers taking a couple of big shots.
The Touch Gloves fighter took the second round honours and the final match-up saw both boxers landing and slipping shots.
Miller was catching the judges' eye with some nice body shots and he won the bout on a split decision.
Leo Croft took his bout at a heavier category than usual with his coaches looking at where they were with him as a gym.
He is usually the taller boxer but lost that height advantage to Ehimare Robert so had to work the most.
Croft was showing some good close up work in the first round but his opponent was constantly stepping back to use his reach.
He was again kept at range in the second round but scored some good shots when the opportunity arose.
Croft put more pressure on his opponent in the third round by trying to put him on the back foot.
Both boxers scored some solid shots with the decision going to the Bletchley fighter as Croft took the bout as a learning experience.
Douglas Sleeman produced a warrior-like display in his bout where both fighters had great engines.
They met in the middle of the ring in the first round with both boxers landing and taking good solid shots.
Both boxers were getting behind their technique more in the second round and, while thinking about their punches, were again both landing and taking good solid shots.
The final round started just as fast as the first with both boxers knowing that the decision could go either way.
Sleeman walked onto a big shot and took a standing eight count but refused to be fazed and got straight back to it.
His coaches thought Sleeman had taken the first two rounds but the judges saw it differently and gave the away boxer a split decision.
Sleeman was awarded Touch Gloves' fighter of the night. It was originally given to Lexi Miller but she enjoyed his bout so much that she believed her club-mate deserved it.
Dan Townsend was left without a bout as his opponent didn't show up but that didn't take the gloss off an excellent night.
The Touch Gloves head coaches said: "We would like to show appreciation to each and every one of their boxers for putting on a fantastic show.
"All of their opponents were more experienced but they all stepped up to the mark. We couldn't be any happier with their progress.
"It is all fantastic preparation for their up-and-coming boxing competitions.
"We, as a club, would like to thank all the supporters that came, the officials, medical staff, travelling clubs and all the volunteers that helped to make this show a great one with Grantham ABC.
"We also thank our club sponsors Spectroform, Willow Lane Motors, Express Driveways, Noah's Ark and Pedal Pushers for your continued support."
The next club show is planned for November 16 at Arena UK.
Touch Gloves boxer Logan Miller was back in action less than 24 hours after the home-town show when he travelled to Mansfield.
He took the high from the night before into the first round and used his reach and slick rolling to make his opponent miss before coming back with his own sharp combinations.
Miller was told to put a little more pressure on in the second round, which he did, while using his range and footwork to stay out of trouble.
He landed some good heavy shots in the third round and kept the pressure on to take a unanimous win over the home boxer for his second victory in two days after 14 months out.
Riley Church took a risky bout but one his coaches knew he needed to see where he was at against an opponent with twice the amount of experience.
He was very light on his feet and accurate with his shots, landing some eye-catching body shots into Church.
The Tough Gloves fighter was his usual self, soaking them up, and looking for a way in and landing some good, clean head shots.
The heavy body shots left him a little wary though, letting his opponent work things to his advantage.
His opponent took a unanimous win but Church can take a huge amount of experience from it.
