Grantham Town are through to the second round of the FA Vase with victory over Newark and Sherwood United
Grantham Town have been handed a home draw in the next round of the FA Vase.
The Gingerbreads will host Abbey Hulton United in the second round clash at the Meres on Saturday, November 8.
Their Stoke-on-Trent based opponents play in the Midland League Premier Division and are currently in third place.
Grantham booked their place among the last 128 teams in the national competition after a 1-0 win over Newark & Sherwood on Saturday.
Brad Munns marked his return to the club on dual registration from Belper by netting the winning goal in the match between the United Counties League Premier Division North rivals.
Munns scored the match-winner just before the midway mark of the first half of the match at Harrowby's Fruehauf Stadium where the Highwaymen are the tenants.
The hosts - who are managed by ex-Grantham defender Tom Ward - had gone close before Munns' clincher but Gingerbreads goalkeeper Jack Steggles saved away an effort from Luke White.
The home side then failed to clear their lines from a long throw-in into the penalty area and Munns arrowed a fine finish into the far corner of the Newark net.
Sherwood goalkeeper Liam Flitton produced a superb save at the start of the second half to prevent Grantham from doubling their lead before keeping out another goalbound shot shortly after.
Newark came close to grabbing a late equaliser when Jav Smith set up White whose shot hit the post with Steggles safely holding onto the follow-up as Grantham saw out the final stages of the contest.
The Gingerbreads return to league action on Tuesday night with a trip to face leaders Boston Town.
