Grantham fighter was trained by Esham 'Brown Sugar' Pickering for Ultra White Collar Boxing event




A Grantham fighter has made a winning start to his boxing adventure.

Lennon 'The Midlands Mauler' Gilbert was victorious in his maiden bout at an Ultra White Collar Boxing event held at the Newark Showground.

The 25-year-old was boxing to raise money for the mental health charity 'Mind' and his exploits brought in an impressive £632.

The total amount raised for charity from the show was £21,000 and Gilbert was pleased with his maiden outing.

He said: "The event was great.

"The atmosphere was really good and I plan to continue boxing. It's a great way to keep fit physically and mentally."

His fight was scheduled for three rounds and he got the decision of the judges for a unanimous victory.

Gilbert trained for his debut at the Epic Golden Gloves gym in Newark under the tutelage of former world bantamweight title challenger and two times British champion Esham 'Brown Sugar' Pickering.
