Sudbrook Moor Golf Club round-up

In a mixed field, Peter Smith returned a solid Thursday scorecard of 39 points to take home his first Sudbrook Moor Senior Trophy.

Peter explained that he had given himself a talking to before that winning round.

At 79 years of age, he felt that he really should be playing more consistently off his present higher handicap than the lower one achieved in his heyday.

It certainly worked as a chilled Peter accumulated the best of the field front nine score of 19 and also the best homeward nine of 20.

An unflappable score in only his third competition of the season means Peter can be justifiably proud.

He receives the Singleton Stableford Shield which was donated to the club in 1995, by its very first senior captain, Barry Singleton.

Runners-up, one point adrift, were Tony Bell and Bryan Heydinger, both in Division Two. Best scorecard of Division One was Ian Batty with 37 points.

Other excellent front and back nine scores were returned by Michael Coupland (front nine, 19) and Andy Dunderdale, Ian Batty, Tony Bell and Bryan Heydinger (all back nine, 20).
