Sarah Terry of Belvoir Tri Club is off to the world championships

Triathlete Sarah Terry has two world championships to look forward to.

Terry, a member of Belvoir Tri Club, had already qualified for the standard distance aqua bike event, which takes place in Torremolinos in October.

And she’s also booked her place at the sprint competition in Australia next year with her performance at the Southport Triathlon, where she finished seventh female and first in age group.

This year began with some challenges for Terry, a knee operation which meant plenty of rest and recovery before getting back to her training plan.

Despite an early setback, she refused to give up and entered the sprint qualifying race which consists of a 750m lake swim, 20k cycle and a 5k run.

The swim, which takes place in Southport Marine Lake, is also home to various water sports.

The cycle course took place on closed roads followed by the 5k run course which was based on paths around the Marine Lake.
