Former Kesteven and Grantham Girls School pupil Amy Hunt wins a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Paris

Amy Hunt has marked her first-ever Olympic Games by winning a silver medal.

The Grantham athlete was part of the women's 4x100m relay team that finished in second spot behind America in the final on Friday night.

The quartet of Hunt, Dina Asher-Smith, Imani-Lara Lansiquot and Daryll Neita had looked well placed for a gold medal win until a poor exchange of the baton allowed the Americans to seize the initiative in a race that was run in pouring rain.

Hunt is the second athlete from the county to win a silver medal after Ed Lowe was part of the successful men’s elite sprint cycling team.

It was the first Olympic Games for Hunt who won her first senior gold as part of the Great Britain women's 4x100m team at the 2024 European Championships before finishing second in the 100m at the 2024 British Athletics Championships in Manchester.

The 22-year-old has also previously won gold medals in the 200m and 4x100m at the European Under-20 Championships.

She is a former Kesteven and Grantham Girls School pupil and started her career at Grantham Athletics Club along with fellow Olympian Lewis Davey.

Davey - a former pupil of the Priory Ruskin Academy - is part of the men's 4x400m relay team who are through to the final on Saturday night.
