Sudbrook Moor Golf Club backs the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
Across the entire club in the past two weeks, the Sudbrook Moor members have generously supported the annual Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
A raffle, mini auction, the sale of poppy merchandise and a donation from the members' funds amounted to a best ever total of £400.36 being raised.
This year a special '80 year' memorabilia in the form of golf ball markers were on sale.
The RBL also supply annual golf medals to be played for in club competitions and were presented to the main Saturday monthly stableford overall winner and the best senior in the Thursday Poppy Stableford. Both events were played from the championship tees.
On Saturday, Andy Stones produced a superb winning score of 42 points, playing from his index of 10. This included four gross birdies and an eagle.
On Thursday, along with 44 other senior golfers, Trevor Whatton, from an index of 21, recorded the best scorecard of 40 points, with a string of seven pars and a birdie.
Both Andy and Trevor were delighted to be presented with the special golf medals.
Saturday's best scorecard, in a mixed field: Andy Stones; runner-up, on a count-back, 42 points, Pedro Morais, 3= Ben Taylor and Ian Barnes 38.

Thursday's mixed field: Trevor Whatton 40, runner-up Geoff Wilkins 39, 3= Neil Stokes and David Leslie 36.
