Belvoir Tri Club round-up

Andrew Goddard and Lisa Udall have been crowned Belvoir Tri Club champions after taking part in an event at Burghley Park.

The multisport weekend showcased a series of challenging events, including aquathlons, triathlons and various running races.

The weekend commenced with the aquathlon which served as the Belvoir club's championship event.

In the men's race, Mick Oliver led after the swim segment.

However, Goddard overtook him during the 5K run, finishing with an impressive time of 19:58 on a challenging course.

That secured him second place overall and clinched the male club aquathlon championship title.

Udall also showcased a strong performance, completing the 1,000m lake swim and 5K run efficiently.

Her efforts earned her the female club championship, placing 10th among all female competitors and third in her age group, reflecting the benefits of her dedicated winter training.

Aaron Samways participated in the standard distance triathlon, comprising a 1,500m swim, 40km bike ride, and 10km run.

He completed the swim in the same lake used for the aquathlon, followed by a two-lap bike course on closed roads.

Despite early heat and some congestion, he navigated the course effectively.

Samways concluded the triathlon with a 10km run across varied terrains, including grass, gravel, and track surfaces, to finish strongly.

Club member Matt Hine has completed his first Ironman 70.3 event in Alcudia, Mallorca.

He finished in under six hours (5:58:00) which is a remarkable achievement, especially from a non-swimmer just three years ago.

His dedication to training and the support from Belvoir Tri Club coaches has clearly paid off.

It was entirely normal to feel nervous before such a significant event, as Matt discovered.

But, once he settled into the race, those nerves subsided, allowing him to focus and enjoy the experience.
