Harrowby United beat Gresley Rovers in the United Counties League Premier Division North

Harrowby made it back-to-back wins in the United Counties League Premier Division North after victory over Gresley Rovers on Saturday.

Elliot King and Lewis Marsh netted the goals for the Arrows in the 2-1 home success as they backed up last week's morale-boosting victory over AFC Mansfield.

With players now returning from injury, manager Jamie McGhee was able to pick a strong 16 against a visiting Gresley side who had won three of their last four league games.

They were boosted by the inclusion of Stamford loanee Connor Bartle while the presence of top scorer Harry Allcock and Kyle Reek both joining in the pre-match warm-up was a welcome sight for the home crowd.

It was a case of staying in the game for the Arrows in the opening period as they could have found themselves a couple of goals down with Jamie Sleigh missing three gilt-edged chances for the visitors.

Harrowby seemed to lack that extra bit of quality in the final third as Gresley stood firm with goalkeeper Louie Turner rarely troubled in the first half.

However, that soon changed immediately after the restart to the second half as Harrowby hit the front.

Taylor Gray and Harrison Dee caused trouble in the Gresley box and King was able to finish well past Turner to give Harrowby the lead.

Harrowby now started to settle down and played some good stuff and they were looking comfortable.

However, out of nowhere, Gresley equalised as Kane Lee picked the ball up just inside his half and spotted goalkeeper Alex Smith off his line and placed a perfect shot over his head and into the net.

Harrowby responded well and, when the ball fell to the impressive Marsh in the Gresley box, he finished superbly to put the Arrows back in front.

Harrowby then showed the know-how to see the game out despite Gresley bombarding the home back line with long throws and crosses.

Skipper Kemal Yeniberitz and his defence stood firm with Smith again making a couple of good saves at his near post.

Manager McGhee was able to use all of his substitutes' bench to freshen things up and Marley Hamilton crashed a shot against the crossbar as Harrowby held on for a great three points.

The win keeps them in the middle of the table in their first season in the Premier Division North after winning promotion.

They now have a break now from league action as Skegness Town arrive at the JRL Brickwork Stadium on Saturday in the UCL Cup on Saturday.

The Arrows then travel to Barton Town next weekend in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy.
